MATIERES PREMIERES is the title of a series of installations that refer to the primary vocation of the exhibition venue, a former trading hall, but also to the role played by Geneva in the world trade of raw materials. Geneva is the leading city in the world trade of cereals, oilseeds and rice and the leading European city in the trade of sugar, oil and cotton.
Piles of earth, salt and sand are suspended on three large steel structures. On the wall, a series of handleless tools are displayed as well as a black marble slab perforated with a series of holes.
