In the Swiss Alps, natural resources have long been managed collectively by the inhabitants, who, over the centuries, have organized themselves into consortages (cooperatives of farmers), whether it be to build communal infrastructure, maintain forests, or channel glacier water to the fields. This complex form of collective organization and responsibility inspired Séverin Guelpa’s creation of OFF GRID, a rammed earth structure made in collaboration with local stakeholders, including the still very active consortage of the commune of Sarreyer in Valais.
During the opening event, the oven was fired up, and pizzas were served to the public.
